It has been my dream and passion to create an Occupational Therapy practice in which each child's pure unlimited potential is celebrated and nurtured. Where children are afforded opportunities to build comfort and confidence within their own bodies and in interacting with the world around them. I believe this can be achieved through the following and this is the mission for Melissa Alves Pediatric Occupational Therapy:
* To provide safe, encouraging, and nurturing environments and highly skilled occupational therapy where children become more comfortable and confident within their bodies and in interacting with the world around them. To enable each child to act from intrinsic motivation; connecting to their inner drive for mastery so that they are better able to access their full potential.
* Understand and support each child's unique sensory processing, emotional regulation, motor, cognitive, communication, and social-emotional abilities based on a whole-child perspective.
* Empower parents by sharing insights about the unique ways in which their children take in and respond to the world around them and effective ways to support their children and foster their full potential at home and in the community.
* Using meaningful play-based activities, building from a child's strengths, and providing the "just right level of challenge" children grow in their abilities, build self-confidence and are empowered to interact with the world around them with more comfort, ease and joy.
* Provide services in a personal, attentive, and warm manner. A relationships and collaborative model of therapy.
